Understanding Categories

Categories enable you to organize your products into logical groups so that your customers can easily find them.

If you selected to install samples, by default categories are visible in the front-end of your store. Categories will be displayed on the homepage for a default theme however you can also use the category module to show them anywhere on your store page with a unique display.

You can add as many subcategories as you want to your root category. A vendor can add unlimited subcategories but cannot add subcategories under the admin root category. They can only add subcategories under the vendor root category. In order to accomplish this you will need to set the correct setting in the Vendor Preference.

You can assign a product to as many categories as you want. The application also makes it easy for you to change your category layouts, each category can be displayed differently and determine how they behave.
