Amazon S3 is an online storage facility. It is inexpensive, fast and easy to setup. Since it’s a service provided by e-commerce giant Amazon, you can be rest-assured that whatever you store at S3 is secure.

Benefits using Amazon S3

  • Better scalability

Amazon S3 uses cloud hosting and image serving that is relatively fast.

  • Paying for more than you actually use

Whether you are on shared hosting or a dedicated server, you pay a lump sum each month (or year) and the amount includes hard disk storage and bandwidth you might not fully use.

  • Store files online

Instead of backing up your files on your local computer or server, you can store them online, and you have the option to keep them private or make them public accessible. It’s entirely up to you.

  • Easier file retrieval and sharing

If you store your files online, you can access them anywhere as long as there is an Internet connection available.

Step 1 Login to your Amazon S3 account

  • Create your buckets and folders where you want to store your files
  • Set proper permission

Note

The Amazon S3 integration is set to US Standard Region, so when you create your bucket make sure to set to US Standard otherwise it won't work.

Retrieve you AWS Access Key and AWS Secret Key

AWS access key
This is actually a username . It is alphanumeric text string that uniquely identifies the user who owns the account. No two accounts can have the same AWS Access Key.

AWS Secret key
This key plays the role of a password . It's called secret because it is assumed to be known by the owner only that's why, when you type it in the given box, its displayed as asterisk or dots. A Password with Access Key forms a secure information set that confirms the user's identity. You are advised to keep your Secret Key in a safe place.

When you are login to your S3 Account, click below link to find your AWS access key.
