JMarket Administrator menu items require clicks, and navigate us to a Admin page for jMarket, but we cannot access Admin submenu items like Vendors-->Vendors Preferences
Status:
Solved
ID:
3VTA4U-1KVP
ISSUE:
jMarket Admin menus in backend require clicks to activate "dropdown" effect to access submenu items.
PROBLEM:
Clicking these, navigates us to that menu's associated page, but then we cannot get to a submenu items without clicking VERY FAST. ie for me to navigate to any Preferences pages at the bottom of each jMarket menu item, I have to very very quickly, click say Vendors then Preferences really, really fast. If I don't, it will always take me to the Vendors default "list page" and even from there - I cannot access any of the submenu items from within that page itself via buttons (suggestion #2 below) so navigation to submenus of the jMarket admin is difficult.
Couple possible fixes I see here noting some definite differences - especially when you consider touchscreen users like myself:
1. Enable "click/highlight zones" of the jMarket dropdown admin menus. ie you currently have a downward pointing triangle AND the text of the menus for Orders, Vendors, Catalog, Shipping, Payments, Reports, Tools and Support.
Make each a highlighted and specific "click zone".
"Dropdown" only when the *triangle* itself is clicked. Conversely, if the *text* of the menu item is clicked - that this takes you to that admin URL (ie Orders or Vendors menu items) and the menu does not dropdown.
NOTE: If implemented, I would recommend a mouseover CSS highlighting effect be added so that when the TRIANGLE is hovered over, it highlights only the triangle, and when the TEXT is hovered over, it highlights only the text.
NOTE ABOUT TOUCHSCREEN USERS: Touchscreen users will not care for this, as it won't work. There is no "mouseover" support on touchscreens.
2. Add jMarket submenu items, as buttons, to the top ribbon of the title / button areas of each respective menu page. ie Vendors listing page now shows VENDORS (title) and then buttons Default, New, Edit, Delete, Inbox, Send Mail and Help. ie
Add in buttons for other submenu items in the Vendors menu to this ribbon (ie Customers, Users, Programs, Types, Shopper's Groups, and Vendors Preferences).
Rinse and repeat this process for each main menu item's respective Admin page when clicked (Orders, Catalog, Shipping, etc etc).
BEST SOLUTION for mouse and touchscreen users alike (like myself) but a little more effort for you guys in dev.
3. Implement onmouseover/highlighting to activate the dropdown itself. This one will probably be the biggest issue for you for two reasons:
A. Multiple browsers to support, and
B. Touchscreen users cannot use this feature

Hello Jay Stoeber ,
It is very interesting that you are managing your Joomla admin dashboard through a touch screen device. You are the first customer of our thousands that we have currently on Joobi that is doing so. I will be adding this though to our suggestion list. Please do take note that our development and product features are highly driven based on customer's demand.
Kind Regards,
Jomel

I use it simply due to having a "convertible" notebook. Touchscreens are *very common* here in the States and I use mine all the time - but even with a mouse I am still unable to navigate without doing exactly as I described! It makes using ALL of your components hard to use in the Administrator. Since I posted this, I have noticed it is ALL components of Joobi's that use that same "common" embedded navigation menu below the Joomla Admin menu area - just above the body area. I HAVE to click to get it to dropdown. This then takes me to that page instead of just leaving the menu down so I can click on what I want in the menu!
Please advise.
Regards,
Joomlajay

Hello Jay Stoeber ,
I will be adding it to our improvement list to include touchscreen support for the back-end. As for now, we recommend all users to manage their websites through a web browser on a non-touch screen device. As I said, you are the first customers of the thousands that we have that is managing the back-end through a touch screen.
Kind Regards,
Jomel

Thank you Jomel. I look forward to it.
Speaking of new features, I have another suggestion that I think needs to be added soon as I have a site I am putting up that does not need nor want Downloadable/digital products from their Market or Store and moreover - a way to customize your embedded toolbars to turn on / off various sections/features that a site may want or not want on the User / website side so that if someone has a store say for JUST "goods" that ship - the rest of those confusing and unused features should not be displayed to users if a shop owners aren't using those pieces.
I'll open a new feature request for it.
Regards,
Joomlajay

Hello Jay Stoeber ,
Okay sir. Our development and product features that are listed for improvements are highly driven based on customer's demand. Since again, you are the first customer from the rest who uses Joobi apps, that manages the back-end through a touch screen device.
You can also submit a separate ticket if you want this to be prioritized by the developers for a fee through custom development services. If you are interested, please do so and I will forward to them
Kind Regards,
Jomel
