JBounceback functionality issues #42AQHO-1LHM

JBounceback functionality issues
Status:
Solved

I am trying to get jBounceback working. The documentation page is out of date I think: https://joobi.co/in-apps-documentation/catalog/jnews_bounce_handling-item-465.html. There is no stage 2, I assume some of this is automatic. I have set up a mailbox successfully, configured Bounceback Prefs to unsubscribe, hit PROCESS which finds the messages, but people aren't unsubscribed from lists. Also, when the Prefs are set to delete it deletes all messages in the email account, not just the bounceback ones. Am I missing something?

Hello piers <>,
1. Make sure in the preferences of jBounceback you specify the no. of active bounce and period. The user has to hit the limit in order for it get removed from the list.
2. The standard practice and recommended is to use a dedicated email just for bounce.
Also there is no way for jBounceback to know emails are bounce or not in your email client. We simply connect to your email client and retrieve the emails. We can only know if it is a bounce or not if it is already imported in jBounceback. This is why it is advisable to use a dedicated email.
If you have any other questions, just let me know and I’ll be happy to help. And have a fantastic day!
Kind Regards,
Cherryl

Hi there,
Thanks for your reply. For 1. I am testing with hard bounces (non-existent email addresses). I can see in the rules that 'Mail delivery failed...' (the subject line I get) should process as Hard Bounce. Surely what you mention is for soft bounces.
For 2., ok fine.
