Updating jNews in CB to fix bug
Status: Solved
ID: 360J0L-1DJJ

I recently inherited responsibility for a website utilising Joomla, Community Builder and jNews.

I have upgraded Joomla from v2.5.22 to v3.3.6, as well as upgrading Community Builder from 1.9.1 to 2.0.4. I also thought I had upgraded from jNews 7.7.1 to 8.3.1 (free) via the download of jnewscore_8_3_september_.zip

but now I'm not sure.

After this process, I noted an error on the landing page of the Joomla admin interface "500: JHtml not found". Our joomla web-hosts help us trace this to the jNews plug in. Once disabled, the error disappears.

I am stuck at the situation in the attached screenshot. The package file I downloaded has upgraded some components of jNews but not others, and I think this accounts for the error. How do I fix this?

I might say that timely support here is likely to convert us from "free" users to "paid".

Thanks,

Hello,

This is seems to be a problem of old version of jnews. Jnews 7.7. is not compatible for Joomla 3.

Before you made an update, you should have verified first if all extensions are compatible to the latest version of Joomla to avoid this problem.

Download here the latest version:

Note: jNews is not compatible with CB 2 yet. We have planned to update the compatibility in a week or so.

Regards,

Cheryl
