Taxamo provides a real-time Software as a Service (SaaS) solution for compliance with the new 2015 EU VAT rules on the sale of e-services. Taxamo handles correct EU VAT rate for digital goods, creates a quarterly EU MOSS return, issues e-invoices and securely stores evidence for 10 years.

Step 1 Register for a Taxamo account

  • Login to your account, navigate to Integrate menu >> API Tokens
  • Copy your Public Tokens and Private Tokens

Step 2 Setup Taxamo in your store

  • From the admin panel, navigate to [any Joobi ecommerce] >> Shipping >> Preferences
  • From the Tax section, locate "Use VAT MOSS" and select "Taxamo"
  • Enter the "Public Token and Private Token" that you've copied from Step 2. Make sure to put the tokens in to the right fields.
  • Select a "Tax Reference Address" and click [Save] once you are done.

Shipping Adress: Tax will be calculate base on the Shipping Adress
Billing Address: Tax will be calculate base on the Billing Adress
Vendor Adress: Tax will be calculate base on the Vendor Adress (Multi-vendor)
IP Adress: Tax will be calculate base on the IP Adress

Reminder: If none is selected, IP Address will be used as default Tax reference.

Things to note

  • You do not need to create individual Tax Zone however you will need to setup "one default Tax Zone", and the rest are automatically done by Taxamo.
  • If you have a virtual product, you must select "Electronic" type during product creation.

EU VAT setup on eBooks

  • From the admin panel, navigate to [any Joobi ecommerce] >> Catalog >> Types
  • Create a new "Type", under "Identifier" you must enter "ebook".
  • Click [Save] once you are done.

Note: When you are creating a new product, if it is an eBook type you need to select the product type you have created for ebook and select "Delivery Type" as "Electronic".
