Giving specific Access level or role to certain site users gives you the power to restrict users from accessing certain pages/features in your store / website.

Step 1 Create Joomla ACL

  • From the admin panel, Users >> User Manager >> User Groups
  • Create / Edit a group
  • Save your changes

joomla-acl

Step 2 Assign Joobi Role to a Joomla ACL equivalent

  • From the admin panel, jApps >> User >> Role
  • Create/Edit a role
  • From the role edit page, assign CMS equivalent that you've created in Step 1
  • Save your changes

Note: Some Joobi roles has no CMS Equivalent assignment and when you edit it, you might see "Public" as assigned. There is nothing to worry about it unless you want edit that role.

The difference between Parallel and Nested:

Parallel
You have a son and you want to add a sister
The sister will have different role than the son. But the sister will inherit all the roles of the parent.

Nested
You have a father and you want to add a son.
The son will inherit all the roles from the father.

Should I add parallel or nested?

If you want a sister you add a parallel. In the other hand if you want a child you add a nested.

Sample Scenario

Company A wanted to setup two types of "Vendor" base on their "Subscription".
Premium Subscription will get Premium Role
Standard Subscription will get Standard Role

Step 1 Create a ACL Group in Joomla

  • From the admin panel, navigate to Users menu >> Group
  • Create a new group with a group parent "registered"
  • Click save once you are done

Note: You cannot assign your new group to public parent. It needs to be atleast a registered role.

Step 2 Create Joobi role with CMS equivalent

  • From the admin panel, navigate to jApps >> Users >> Roles
  • Create new roles and assign a "Parent" and 'CMS Equivalent".
  • You need to assign the CMS equivalent that we just created in Step 1
  • You also need to assign a "Parent" which is Vendor since we are creating a new type of vendor role

Note

A vendor always gets a "registered" and "vendor" roles because it is the minimum role you need to be able to login. You cannot have a vendor role but no registered role.

Refer to below image:

  • Standard vendor is located below Vendor role, which means he has the vendor role and standard role.
  • Premium vendor is located just below Standard role, which means he has the vendor, standard and premium role.

To assign vendors to different "Roles", you need jSubscritption to handle the assigning of roles base on subscription. Please refer to "Vendor Monetization" article for more detailed setup.
